Latvia Gains Two New Amateur Radio Bands

Radio amateurs in Latvia now have two new bands, following the introduction of their new Amateur Radio license on August 9. Access now is permitted to a new 60 meter allocation of 5351.5–5366.5 kHz, with a maximum power output of 15 W EIRP.

Some Latvian hams also now may operate on the new 630 meter band, 472–479 kHz, with a power of 1 W EIRP and a transmitted signal bandwidth no greater than 800 Hz. Privileges on 630 meters in Latvia are available only to Category A (ie, top level) licensees.
