Messe Friedrichshafen, organizers of the HAM RADIO event, are continuing with plans for an in-person event to be held 25-27 June 2021, in additional the DARC is planning a state-of-the-art online conference event

The unfortunately still ongoing Covid-19 pandemic makes the planning of any in-person event exceedingly difficult. This also applies to the 45th HAM RADIO exhibition, where the German Amateur Radio Society (DARC) acts only as the event patron whilst the commercial responsibility and ultimate decision for holding the event is with the Friedrichshafen based exhibition organisation.

The organizers (Messe Friedrichshafen) decided to hold the 45th HAM RADIO from 25-27 June 2021 as an in-person event and plannings are ongoing including appropriate hygienic and physical distancing concepts. With all those measures in place HAM RADIO 2021 will obviously be a much smaller and different event than usual.

However, the in-person event can only happen with the approval of the local authorities based on the German government's actual Covid-19 measures and because of the currently very slow progress with vaccinations in Germany and some uncertainty concerning the virus mutations, it is not clear whether and when such approval will be given. Furthermore, foreign visitors may need to comply with quarantine and/or negative PCR test rules when entering Germany.

The safety, health and comfort of our international visitors is our utmost priority and hence we like to advise you to plan your trip to Friedrichshafen bearing in mind that the in-person event still might get cancelled.

The current status from DARC's perspective is the following:

• We are fully supporting the efforts of the Messe Friedrichshafen for preparing an in-person event;

• In parallel we are planning a state-of-the-art online conference event with presentations, discussion forums, virtual meeting places and vendor information. We very much would like to include our international visitors in the online conference programme by providing you with the opportunity to present your organisation in a short video and offer information material for download etc. DARC will soon contact you with further details, e.g. what kind of material, length, format etc. we would like to get from you.
